Part 13 – VMware vSphere 8 Nested Home Lab – Adding vCenter 8 To Active Directory Domain

Open any web browser and navigate to the vCenter URL https://vcenter01.virtshinobi.local/ui

Login using the SSO Administrator ([email protected]) credentials.

Click on the hamburger menu on the top left and select Administration.

Under Single Sign On, select Configuration. Under the Identity Provider tab, click Active Directory Domain. Click Join AD.

Enter the domain (virtshinobi.local), optional organizational unit, and domain user name (domain admin) and password, and click Join. I am using the domain administrator account for this purpose in this home lab. In a production environment you should use a service account which has sufficient rights for adding servers to domain

Post successfully joining the domain you can see the Active Directory domain updated and a message asking you to reboot the vCenter server to apply the changes.

Reboot the vCenter Server virtual machine for the changes to take effect.

Navigate to System Configuration under Deployment. Select the vCenter node vcenter01.virtshinobi.local and click Reboot Node.

Enter the reason for the reboot and click on OK.
